Conan Zhao is a senior at the Maggie Walker School of Government. He is also an inventor.
· He plays the piano, is leader of various Clubs at his school, speak Chinese and Spanish.
· He is a member of the National Spanish Honor Society, Spanish Club, Model United Nations, Technology Club, Tennis Club, and Climate Awareness Club.
· He founded a Music Composition and Appreciation Club and a Club for Advanced Thought based on logical proofs at Maggie Walker.
· He received more than 15 awards for academic excellence, community engagement, and leadership achievements.
· Conan aspired to be a global entrepreneur, using technology and entrepreneurial spirit to change the world and make it a better one. He has a 4.25 GPA
Lakshmi Ravindra is a senior at the Henrico High School. She is pursuing a Biology-Pre Medicine studies and a minor in International Relations.
· She is leader of various Clubs at her school.
· She is a leader of the Future Health Professionals Club, the National Spanish Honor Society, the Spanish Club, Model United Nations, National Honor Society, Forensics Team, English Honor Society, Science Honor Society, and the National Society of High School Scholars.
· She volunteers for more than 10 community based organizations such as the Hindu Center of Virginia. She has a 4.90 GPA.
Eileen Wang is a senior at the Maggie Walker Governor’s School. She is pursuing a Neuroscience-Cognitive Science - Pre Medicine studies.
· She is leader of various Clubs at her school.
· She is a leader of her class ‘ Student Government, is a Red Cross Liaison, Youth Council, Maggie Walker’s Medical Club, Tutoring Club, Swim Team, Future Problem Solving, National Science Honor Society, and the Model United Nations, among others.
· She received 19 awards for academic excellence, community engagement, and leadership achievements.
· She volunteers for more than 20 community based organizations. She has a 4.90 GPA.

About The Student Scholarship Program
The mission of the Virginia Asian Chamber of Commerce Student Scholarship Award Program is to promote the entrepreneurial spirit in Asian and other students within the context of global business opportunities and challenges.
The program supports both secondary and higher education and encourages students at the high school and undergraduate college levels to consider the field of business entrepreneurship as a career. Three (3) awards will be given in 2011 – each at $500.
Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible, applicants must be current college-bound senior high school students, undergraduate, or graduate students who are enrolled in a Virginia institution of higher education, during the Spring 2012, and have a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Applications Deadline
1. Applications are to be sent to: Student Scholarship Selection Committee, Virginia Asian Chamber of Commerce, P.O. Box 2640, Glen Allen, VA 23058.
2. Applications must be received no later than the EXTENDED DEADLINE of 5 pm on OCTOBER 30, 2011
3. All scholarship recipients will be notified by email or mail and recognized at the Gala.
4. Winners must be present to receive the awards.
In 2010, three (3) scholarships were awarded to the following students with impressive academic and community service records:
1st Prize: Miss Inesha Premaratne, daughter of Dr. Shyamal and Mrs. Manuri Premaratne. Inesha is a Senior at Henrico High School-International Baccalaureate program, enrolled in Math, Science, Poetry, and Technology, and International Diplomacy. Inesha is an accomplished figure skater. Inesha is from Sri-Lanka.
2nd Prize: Mr. Justin Trinidad, of Henrico, of the Filipino community, is a Senior at Henrico High School-International Baccalaureate program, pursuing International Relations or Biochemistry in college. Justin is Assistant Principal Cellist of the Richmond Symphony Youth Orchestra.
3rd Prize: Miss Melanie Tsou, of Chantilly, Virginia, is daughter of Mr. Kevin and Mrs. Su-Mei Tsou. Melanie is a Sophomore at the University of Virginia, pursuing a major in Economics and Commerce. Melanie is active in publishing and in Asian community leadership. She is a Taiwanese American.
